Workshop I: A Zero Waste Approach- Siroki Brijeg, 28th November 2014

On 28th November, in Siroki Brijeg (Hotel Park), Federal Ministry of Environment and Tourism organized the Workshop I– A ZERO Waste Approach within the Project “ZERO Waste Adriatic Net for events and festivals”. The participants at the event were from different parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina: Neum, Citluk, Bihac, Sarajevo, Gradacac, Mostar, Siroki Brijeg etc. In the workshop in total were 42 participant   present.

In order to facilitate the Worskhop and promote the Zero Waste goals, we have produced cardboard pencils, notepads with ZW logo, folders with ZW logo, promotional leaflets with general information on Zero Waste Project, hats and T-shirts with ZW logo and USB sticks with ZW logo with presentations by the Federal Ministry of Environment and Tourism and National Park “Una”.

After the welcome words by Mr Nedjeljko Babic (Assistant Minister) , Ms Amra Tabucic (Technical Manager of the Project on the behalf of the Federal Ministry of Environment and Tourism) presented the goals of the IPA Adriatic ZERO Waste Net for Events and Festivals and methods to apply and promote the ZERO Waste Project for festival  and events, which implementation and project outputs Federal Ministry is responsible.

Ms Tabucic presented all Working Packages of the Project in general, its aims and objectives, harmonization of the main Project goals with the EU acquis especially with the Waste Directive and the main project outputs. Sshe explained the main objectives of this Working Package and presented some Zero Waste pilot events irganized by the other Project partners. She pointed out that this Project is Cross-boundary Cooperation between nine partners, three Italian, one Slovenian, two Croatian and one from Montenegro, one from Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Faculty of Tourism and Management from Croatia (Lead Beneficiar).  The Project has been financed by the EU financial program IPA Adriatic.

Mr Davor Jagodic (Lead Beneficiary – Faculty of Tourism and Management) presented the main project output which is the permanent ICT Application as a tool to exchange experiences and promote accessibility to information due to promote tourist economy in accordance with ZERO Waste Guidelines.

Mr Haris Hadzihajdarevic from the National Park “Una” presented their  work and activities and pointed out that they are very willing to cooperate in achieving goals by the ZERO Waste Guidelines

Representative of the Mostar Blues and Rock Festival, Mr Orhan Maslo, emphasized the role of the  ZERO Waste ICT Application due to connect event organizers, inorder to promote a ZERO Waste tourism on the region.

The workshop was opened for questions and discussion.

Other participants had some questions about financing the ICT application, who will do maintenance and other issues which are very crucial regarding the sustainability of the project.

At  the end of the Workshop,  participants were invited to participate in the Pilot project event “Traditional tasting of the young wine” in Winery Andrinje in Paoca village, in the neighbouring municipality of Citluk.
