To promote the project and its ideas the project partner Faculty of Tourism Studies of the University of Primorska organised a round table on »environment friendly« events and festivals. The event was held on Thursday, 3rd July 2014 at Turistica.

The round table attendants were prominent events’ organizers: Lorena Pavlic, director of film festival Kino Otok in Izola, Jerneja Kamnikar, director of Vivo Catering, Mojca Gobina, MICE at Hotels Bernardin, Mojmir Kovac, organizer of recreational and other events in the region, and Tadeja Jere Jakulin, PhD, partner coordinator of the Zero Waste project.

The attendants talked about the issue of dealing with waste and other negative consequences of events and festivals. They presented some good practices and pointed out three current issues: how to reduce the impact of events on the environmenthow to include the locals, and finally, how to deal with the food waste and garbage when the event is over.

After the round table a provocative photo exhibition has been opened. The exhibition is titled »More events, less waste« and authored by Iztoka Boncina from the Slovenian society of photographers and photoreporters. The exhibition will be available in the faculty’s lobby during the summer.
